Menakhem Linder was born in Sniatyn, Galicia. A lawyer and economist from Lvov University, he looked after the financial sector of the JDC and drafted a statistical study of the Jewish population in Warsaw, from September 1939 to September 1941. He was one of the organizers of Yikor, promoting Yiddish culture. A member of Oneg Shabbat, a friend of Emmanuel Ringelblum, he took an active part in the Ghetto's social and cultural activities. He was assassinated by the Gestapo during the night
of April 17 to 18 1942, along with 53 other people.
